Creatures, Crimes and Creativity 2017

While the summer is winding down, many authors are gearing up for the Creatures, Crime and Creativity Conference, Sept. 8 -10, 2017 in Columbia, MD.  This unique event gives fans the opportunity to dine, chat, network and strengthen bonds with the creators of the genre fiction they love to read.

For those unfamiliar with the C3 Con, this is where authors and fans of mystery, suspense, thriller, horror, sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal rub elbows for three days of various writing panels, workshops and mix and mingles.

Don’t miss out on the spine-tingling fun! Sign up HERE!

You can also follow me on Twitter @Dead_Sassy. I’ll be live-tweeting throughout the event #MDC3Con to give you a behind-the-scenes peek.

3:00 pm – Seducing Your Readers In Chapter One

Salvaging a novel with a weak opening is next to impossible. This presentation will reveal how to compel your readers to keep turning the page.

10:00 am – Back From the Dead (Moderator & Panelist)

There are many characters who die in what appears to be a permanent fashion, only to be brought back from death. How do the characters interact with resurrection (their own or someone else’s) and in some cases even prepare for it? When do readers feel like this works when does it feel like a cheap trick or a cop-out?

1:15 pm – Science Fiction: Sex, Death and Reincarnation: How Weird Was That?

No matter how weird science fiction gets (and it can get pretty weird), it still always feels like a pale reflection of the incessant nuttiness of the real world.

3:15 pm – Vampires, Ghosts or Tinkerbell? The Incredible World of Fantasy and Paranormal.

There seems to be lots of people who love one but not the other.  In most classification schemes urban fantasy is technically a sub genre of fantasy, and paranormal romance is a sub genre of romance. These authors will discuss the differences and commonalities in these genre.
